Our Team
We are a collaborative of experienced male therapists and coaches in the San Francisco Bay Area who understand the unique needs of men.

Dr. Josh Krieger, Psy.D. has over two decades of experience working with adults and couples, with a clinical focus grounded in psychodynamic psychotherapy. His work emphasizes understanding the deeper emotional and relational patterns that shape a person's inner life and relationships, while also drawing flexibly from a range of therapeutic approaches. Rather than adhering to a single model of therapy, Dr. Krieger practices integrative psychotherapy, combining the most effective elements of different therapies to fit the unique needs and goals of each patient. His work with men is especially focused on helping them reconnect with their inner lives, strengthen their relationships, and grow through a balance of challenge and support; for the past four years, he has also led a weekly group for new fathers, supporting men as they navigate the hopes, pressures, and identity shifts that accompany building families.
In addition to his clinical training, Dr. Krieger brings a long-standing personal and professional background that informs his work. He has maintained a mindfulness meditation practice for over 35 years, which shapes his therapeutic approach and attention to emotional presence. Prior to becoming a psychologist, he worked in software design, developing speech recognition systems and improving early internet accessibility for people with disabilities. This background gives him a nuanced understanding of technology, startup culture, and the pressures faced by those working in the tech industry. He is also fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
Dr. Krieger is a member of:
- American Psychological Association (APA)
- APA Division 51 (Society for the Psychology of Men and Masculinities)
- California Psychological Association
- San Francisco Psychotherapy Research Group
- Society for the Exploration of Psychotherapy Integration

Sanjeev Balarajan, AMFT is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist working under the supervision of Dr. Josh Krieger. His clinical focus is on men's mental health: navigating major life transitions, relationship conflict, divorce, and changes in identity, family, and purpose. He also facilitates men's groups, where he helps men build emotional awareness, accountability, and connection in a supportive peer setting.
Before entering the field of psychotherapy, Sanjeev trained in engineering and business and built a career in the technology industry. His interest in people's inner lives developed through years of coaching and mentoring, and was further shaped by his own experience as an immigrant navigating significant personal and cultural transitions. These experiences inform a grounded, empathic approach to therapy, particularly with men facing uncertainty, loss, or redefinition after divorce or separation.
Sanjeev's therapeutic style is integrative and tailored to the unique needs of each client.

Rob Riddell, Psy.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist in San Francisco who has been practicing since 2016, working with adults through psychotherapy and collaborative psychological assessment. His work centers on therapeutic assessment, an integration of psychological testing and psychotherapy, designed to help people understand themselves more deeply. Trained at the Wright Institute in Berkeley, Rob spent three years working in county hospitals with medically ill and psychiatrically hospitalized patients, with specialized training in neuropsychological assessment for individuals with brain injuries, neurological conditions, and severe mental illness. This background informs his careful, evidence-based approach to testing, grounded in respect for the complexity of each person's lived experience.
At the heart of Rob's practice is collaboration: he works alongside clients to use psychological testing as a shared inquiry into the deeper causes of their struggles. Rob invites clients into an ongoing dialogue where assessment becomes a meaningful process of discovery, insight, and self-compassion. His work is shaped by more than twenty years of meditation practice in the Theravadan Buddhist tradition, including teaching mindfulness meditaiton in a county jail and co-creating an eight-week public program, Essential Mindfulness Training. Rob brings his full self—intellect, heart, values, and life experience—into his work, offering a steady, engaged presence to support clarity, understanding, and change when it is most needed. Please note, Dr. Riddell may be contacted regarding psychological assessment, but he is not currently accepting new psychotherapy clients.

Rev. Doug Lubbers, M.Div., M.S. Ethics began his career as a Presbyterian minister, serving congregations across the country from New York to California and later Dallas, Texas. After fifteen years in parish ministry, he felt a strong call to work more directly with suffering and healing, which led him into hospital chaplaincy at Children's Medical Center in Dallas. There he provided emotional and spiritual care to children and families facing profound illness, loss, and recovery. After moving to San Francisco in 2003, Doug spent the next twenty years training chaplains in intensive year-long residency programs, collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to support the emotional and ethical dimensions of chaplain development and patient care.
Alongside this work, Doug has increasingly focused on one-to-one coaching and spiritual direction. Drawing on decades of experience accompanying people through crisis, transition, and moral complexity, Doug has devoted recent years to coaching and spiritual direction with men, helping them cultivate courage, clarity, and a deeper sense of purpose during periods of transition or uncertainty. A growing focus of his work is supporting men as they approach or move through retirement, exploring questions of identity, meaning, and vocation beyond paid work, and helping them navigate this major life transition with intention, resilience, and direction.
